Senior Quant Researcher for Hedgefund in HK (Equities Business)

Senior Quantitative Researcher – Equities (PM Advisory)

Location: Hong Kong (relocation support available)
Employment Type: Full-time

Overview A leading global investment firm is looking to hire a Senior Quantitative Researcher to partner closely with Portfolio Managers within its equities business.

This role sits at the intersection of quant research, risk, and portfolio construction, with a strong focus on improving performance and scalability of Long/Short equity strategies. You will work directly with investment teams, providing analytics, insights, and actionable recommendations to drive risk-adjusted returns.

This is not a macro-focused role — candidates must have deep experience in equity L/S strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to enhance portfolio construction, risk-taking, and performance
  • Develop and apply quantitative models for risk, return attribution, and investment process analysis
  • Generate insights on P&L drivers, factor exposures, and portfolio optimisation
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve risk-adjusted returns and scalability
  • Act as a trusted advisor to PMs, influencing decision-making through analytics and research
  • Collaborate with data, engineering, and risk teams to build and improve analytical tools
  • Communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly to investment stakeholders
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative research, risk, or portfolio analytics
  • Strong experience with Long/Short equity strategies (must-have)
  • Solid background in risk management, portfolio construction, and performance attribution
  • Strong programming skills (Python required; experience with large datasets)
  • Experience working closely with Portfolio Managers or risk-takers
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills – ability to translate analytics into actionable insights
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
What We’re Looking For
  • Individuals with a deep understanding of equity investing and portfolio risk
  • Strong communicators who can engage and influence front-office stakeholders
  • Candidates who are commercially minded, not purely academic
  • Professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative investment environment
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to challenge and improve investment processes
