The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 5–7 years of post-qualified experience, preferably gained within a hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank or Big Four.
Role Overview Reporting to the Finance Director (or Head of Finance), the Financial Controller will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality financial and management reporting, fund oversight, and internal control processes. The role involves close collaboration with key internal teams including Fund Accounting, Operations, Tax, Compliance, and Investor Relations, as well as external service providers.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Control - Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management accounts for the management company and fund entities
- Coordinate annual statutory audits, liaising with external auditors and administrators
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with UK GAAP / IFRS and internal policies
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls across entities and jurisdictions
Fund Oversight - Oversee NAV review processes and liaise with third-party fund administrators
- Monitor fund expense allocations, capital movements, and investor reporting
- Support performance and fee calculations (e.g., management fees, incentive fees)
- Provide insight and analysis on fund profitability and AUM trends
Budgeting & Forecasting - Assist in preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Support cost control initiatives and provide financial insights to senior management
Regulatory & Tax Compliance - Support regulatory filings (e.g. FCA, AIFMD, Annex IV, CFTC) and liaise with compliance teams
- Coordinate with tax advisors on corporate and fund-level tax matters
Process Improvement - Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and control processes
- Participate in finance projects, system upgrades, and automation initiatives
Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience - Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with 5–7 years of post-qualified experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with investment management structures
- Experience within a hedge fund, asset manager, or Big Four audit/assurance team with asset management clients
Key Skills - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach and high level of accuracy
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
