As Head of Securities Operations the primary responsibility is to ensure the
various back-office teams adheres to all internal & external control and
compliance requirements and to implement market standards and best practices where applicable. You will be a culture carrier for the organization promoting an inclusive working environment where staff can flourish. You will develop and direct departmental & business initiatives, drive operational excellence through collaboration and promote a continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead & manage ~15 people across the back-office functions (EQ
settlement, FI Cash settlement, Corporate Action, Cash Management and
Account Services) reporting to Head of Operation HK.
• Increase productivity & efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance to internal & external regulatory control
requirements.
• Promote and implement standard operational procedures & processes.
• Deliver improvements in team dynamics & engagement.
• Promote operational excellence.
• Ensure Ops Department is aligned to the firm’s strategic objectives and
business imperatives.
• Actively participate in new product development with key business
representatives.
• Retain & develop top talent.
• Responsible for managing and delivering the department’s expense
budget.
• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder engagement both internally and
externally.
• Help drive local, regional, and global projects.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills
• Bachelors/Master’s degree in relevant professional qualification.
• Minimum 15 years Operations or relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years as Head of Securities Operations (sell side preferred) or
in similar leadership role.
For Internal & External Distribution
• Strong understanding of Equities/Fixed Income product life cycle.
• Possesses strong and solid knowledge of settlements and corporate
actions workflows (this is a critical requirement).
• Previous experience in leading middle office preferred.
• Knowledge of current regulatory and market initiatives impacting product
life cycle.
• Good knowledge of supporting technologies (Fidessa, Murex, Gloss).
• Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
• Japanese, Mandarin, or Cantonese preferred but not essential.
• Analytical mind & problem-solving aptitude.
• Strong communication & negotiation skills.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• A record of significant accomplishments in building and managing
effective operating models with focus on planning and execution.
• Strong mentoring and leadership skills.
• Able to manage multiple deliverables at any one time.
