Job Title: Fund Accountant
Job Description:
Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join a dynamic team as a Fund Accountant for our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and a deep understanding of hedge fund operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of the fund while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  1. Net Asset Value (NAV) Calculation:
    • Calculate daily, weekly, and monthly Net Asset Values for assigned hedge funds.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness in the valuation process, considering all relevant factors such as securities pricing, corporate actions, and accruals.
  2. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.
    • Generate investor reports and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
  3. Reconciliation:
    • Perform daily reconciliations of cash, positions, and trades to ensure accuracy and identify and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
    • Investigate and resolve variances between internal records and external sources.
  4. Fund Administration:
    • Collaborate with various internal teams, including portfolio management, legal, and compliance, to ensure seamless fund operations.
    • Assist in the onboarding of new funds, including setting up accounting systems and processes.
  5. Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
    • Stay current with industry regulations and ensure all fund activities adhere to relevant compliance standards.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory reports in accordance with applicable requirements.
  6. Audit Support:
    • Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
    • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audit processes.
  7. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting operations.
    • Implement best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the accounting function.
  8. Ad-hoc Projects:
    • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial systems and tools.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as CPA or CFA is preferred.
  • Previous experience in hedge fund accounting or fund administration is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, investment strategies, and fund structures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
